Under the Roof Tiles - The shape of memory

Under the Roof Tiles is a metaphor for home, showing my appreciation for the people and the artefacts in the family.
Under the Roof Tiles is a project that aims to uncover the cultural context hidden in daily objects and encourage people to preserve their cultural identity through visual communication design. Through this practice, I gained insight into the river of my family and learned more about my family’s history. Moreover, I elevated my personal experience to a collective level, resonating with people's emotions.
To visualise my appreciation of the house, my family, and the objects under the roof tiles, I hand-bound my thesis into a hardcover book with a book box. My thesis is my 2-year research, lying in the book box with the colour of the roof tiles, as a metaphor for 'Under the Roof Tiles'.
Daily objects can be more than just tools or items, but also carriers for remembering, mementoes, social contexts, family histories, and identity. The house is not just a house, it is also an object that preserves the family stories and a memoryscope embracing the family's past in present. This is the reason why I chose to hand-bind my thesis.
